You know what happens when mortals fall in love with mythological gods, right? Nothing but trouble. Spring fever is in full bloom and for some amorous folks, ordinary humans simply aren't enough to leave a person starstruck.
Your job is to write an epic love poem (less than 100 lines), telling the tale of what happens when someone falls in love with a god. Poems may be in any format or style, but they must be titled.
There is no fee to enter the Romantic Myth Contest. Entries must be written in English, however, the writer can live anywhere in the world.
Paste your entry directly into the body of an e-mail and send to Contest@inscriptionsmagazine.com with the subject heading "Romantic Myth Contest." At the end of your e-mail, include your real name, pen name (if applicable), mailing address and e-mail address. Enter as often as you like.
Entries that do not follow these guidelines will be disqualified. Each entry will be acknowledged, once received by the Inscriptions staff.
1st place -- $50 gift certificate from Amazon.Com (or cash equivalent), publication in Inscriptions and a copy of Neil Gaiman's upcoming book, "American Gods."
We only ask for one-time electronic rights to the winning entries. Deadline for all entries is April 20, 2001. Winners will be announced in the May 7th issue of Inscriptions.
