Greetings and thank you for requesting our submission guidelines.

Inscriptions is the weekly e-zine for professional writers. Our goal each week is to provide job opportunities, paying markets and contests of interest to working writers
and editors. We are particularly interested in articles geared toward writers and editors who freelance and/or telecommute.

ARTICLES/INTERVIEWS

1. Articles must focus on writing or publishing-related issues (including interviews, how to's, troubleshooting, etc.). Inscriptions does not publish fiction, poetry or other nonfiction articles, unless the submissions have won our sponsored monthly contest.

2. Articles must be between 500 and 1,500 words. Interviews should be conducted with working writers, authors, writing teachers, editors, agents or publishers. All interviews must be approved in advance.

3. If articles link to Websites, they must be formatted with the name of the site, then the URL in parentheses. Ex. Inscriptions (http://www.inscriptionsmagazine.com). All Websites mentioned in articles must be relevant to the topic and available for the public to view.

4. Inscriptions accepts reprints of writing-related articles. The publication where the article originally appeared will be credited. However, you must hold the copyright to the article, in order to submit it to us.

5. If you have an article you'd like to send to us, send a query letter in e-mail to Jade Walker, Editor of Inscriptions, at Editor@inscriptionsmagazine.com. Use the subject heading "Article Query." Paste the query directly into the message area. Single space all lines. Put two spaces between paragraphs. Do not indent paragraphs.

6. We will either accept or reject your query. Once we accept the article idea, please e-mail the article in the body of an e-mail. All attachments will be deleted. Include your full name, pen name (if preferred), mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.

7. Inscriptions asks for one time electronic rights to publish the article on our Website and in the text-only e-mail version of the magazine. Inscriptions copyrights the issue where the article appears. All other copyrights remain with the author. Upon publication, the author is free to resell or publish the article elsewhere. We do archive our articles for one year on our Website, but all articles are removable or excluded at the writer's request.

8. If the article is accepted for publication, writers can choose from two forms of payment:

* We pay $40 for each accepted and published article. Payments are made the following month for all articles used the in past 30 days.

OR

* We will include a 50-word text ad (run within our e-zine) or a banner ad (up to 7k) run on our Website for up to four weeks.

HUMOR

1. Humor articles must focus on the writing or publishing life. Submissions in this area should bring a smile to our faces. We like 'em light, tight and fun.

2. Please keep these submissions under 1,000 words.

3. If you have an item you'd like to send to us, send it in e-mail to Jade Walker, Editor of Inscriptions, at Editor@inscriptionsmagazine.com. Use the subject heading "Humor." Paste it directly into the message area. Single space all lines. Put two spaces between paragraphs. Do not indent paragraphs. Include your full name, pen name (if
preferred), mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.

4. We will either accept or reject your submission. Inscriptions asks for one time electronic rights to publish the submission on our Website and in the text-only e-mail version of the magazine. Inscriptions copyrights the issue where the article appears. All other copyrights remain with the author. Upon publication, the author is free to resell or publish the article elsewhere. We do archive our articles for one year on our
Website, but all articles are removable or excluded at the writer's request.

5. If the article is accepted for publication, writers can choose from two forms of payment:

* We pay $5 for each accepted and published humor items. Payments are made the following month for all articles used the in past 30 days.

OR

* We will include a 50-word text ad (run within our e-zine) or a banner ad (up to 7k) run on our Website for one week.

BOOK REVIEWS

Inscriptions publishes five book reviews each week. Reviewers must be published writers, authors or editors. They must be willing to review both print and electronic books with a four-week deadline. Each review is 300-500 words and must be honest
and critical.

All reviews are assigned; we do not accept reviews from non-staff members. In exchange for reviews, staff writers get to keep the book, and receive $5 for each accepted review. Inscriptions archives all book reviews for one year on our Website.

We do not need additional reviewers at this time.
